Bill Frank Wilson Profile Photo Bill Frank Wilson, age 90 of Double Springs, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born October 8, 1933 to F.M. and Opal Wilson. Bill will most be remembered for his 65 years of ministry in the kingdom of his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. His ministry over those years took many forms, both conventional and unconventional. During the 1960s, he served as pastor of six local congregations in the Northwest Alabama conference of the Methodist church. In Tuscaloosa County: Sylvan, Big Sandy, Coaling, and Andrew‘s Chapel. In Morgan County: Center Springs and Antioch Methodist churches. In the 1970s and 80s, Mr. Wilson’s ministry focused on the establishment and operation of two children’s homes, L.O.V.E. Boys’ Home in Brookwood, Alabama, and Palmera Children’s Home in Double Springs. Mr. Wilson served as Founder and Director of these two campuses, which provided a home for hundreds of young men over 20 years. In 1986, he moved with his wife, Bonnie, and daughter, Kelly, home to Winston County. His ministry continued where he pastored three more churches, often simultaneously—Union Grove Free Will Baptist, Hickory Grove Church of the Nazarene, and Corinth—a restored church that was built in the early 1800s. During his many years of pastoring, Bill was a self-taught “fix it” man, repairing appliances for minimal payment. He saw his work as a way to bless others and share Jesus, which he certainly did!

Visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Double Springs, Alabama from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Double Springs. His son, Phil Wilson, will officiate.

Bill Frank is survived by his wife of 72 years, Bonnie Wilson; son, David Philip (Cyndi) Wilson; daughter, Kelly Wilson (Wade) Mize; sister, Dorothy Gilbreath; grandsons, Timothy (Karlie) Wilson and Grant Mize; granddaughters, Elaine Wilson (Zac) Canfield and Claire Mize (Brannon) Herring; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, F.M. and Opal Tidwell Wilson; son, Jeffrey Paul Wilson; sister, Doris Joan Cockrell.
