Graveside services for Bettye Waites Estes will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Cullman City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Smith officiating and Moss Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home.
Mrs. Estes, who died March 4, 2015, at her home in Decatur, was born on September 17, 1930, in Alexander City, to Montee Z. and Inez Free Waites, the youngest of five children, all deceased. From 1959 until 1989 Bettye and her late husband, John B. Estes, were owners of Valley Oil Company, Phillips 66 Gasoline Distributors in Decatur. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Rozelle Estes (Bert) Bedard; 11 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and nephews; 20 great-great- nieces and nephews and seven great-great-great- nieces and nephews. Also mourning her passing are the members of her late husband’s family.
