Bettye Jane Roye Wicker, 82, passed away August 31, 2023, at NMMC-Tupelo, MS. Bettye was a smart woman and accomplished a lot of things in her lifetime. After graduation, she pursued her dream of nursing and joined Mattie Nursing in Jackson, MS. She continued her career all over North MS, TN, and AR. She earned her Masters later in life at Stevens University. She loved her job and being a nurse. She enjoyed going and watching horse races with friends and traveling the world. Bettye enjoyed spending time with family at lake Picwick. She left an imprint on everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her daughter Cindy Purdon; grandsons, Darren Rodgers, Justin Henry, Joseph Purdon; granddaughter, Charity Purdon; great-grandchildren, Mackinlee Henry, Mayson Henry, Harper Henry, and Stetson Purdon.
She was preceded in death parents, Madge and Horace Roye; her twin brother, Bobby “Cobb” Roye; brother, Jimmy Roye; and grandson, Tyler Henry.
Service will be 2PM, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Jimmy Bryan officiating. The North MS Nursing Honor Guard will honor Ms. Wicker. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5th 5-8PM and Wednesday, September 6th 1PM until service time. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Purdon, Thomas McCullor, Justin Henry, and Darren Rodgers.
