Betty Wilma Griffis, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Riverside Senior Living in Decatur, Alabama. Graveside Services will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, Alabama with Jeffrey Griffis officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the chapel.
Mrs. Griffis was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 10, 1936 to Henry Elmer and Myrtle Howell Grubb. Later she became an Administrative Clerk by trade at the hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to everyone… her kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. Although we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her loved ones in the embrace of eternal peace.
Mrs. Griffis was preceded in death by her husband, James Griffis; son, Gary Griffis; parents, Henry and Myrtle Howell Grubb; five brothers, Ralph Grubb, Alex Grubb, Clifford Grubb, Buford Grubb, Paul Grubb; and a sister, Elizabeth Grubb Davis.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Griffis (Debra); four grandchildren, Joseph Griffis (Tana), Bethany Griffis, Charissa Franklin (Austin), Jamie Griffis; and two great-grandchildren, Everly Franklin and August Franklin.
