Betty Whitt Jones – Obituary

Betty Whitt Jones, 78 of Ardmore, Tennessee died on Monday, March 31, 2014, at her home.
Born Tuesday, February 18, 1936 in Ardmore, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Herbert “Hub” Whitt and the late Mary Katherine Coggin Whitt. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ardmore. She was a lifelong resident of Ardmore and was a retired office administrator for S & S Nursery in Tanner, AL. She was a member of the Ardmore Library Board, a permanant and only female member of the Alabama Nurserymans Association, a patron and friend of Boy Scout Troop 462 of Pulaski, TN, and a charter member of the Jayceettes in Ardmore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: George Jones, brothers: Gilbert Whitt, Kenneth Whitt, John Henry Whitt, Glen Whitt, and Sherman Whitt, and sisters: Frances Delap, and Edna Haislip.
Surviving are daughters, Kimberly & Hubert Max White, Sr. of Pulaski, TN and Kandye & Charles Gates of Ardmore, AL two sisters: Ann Lewter of Fayetteville, TN, and Patsy Houk of Romeo, MI, and three grandchildren: Bethany Hope Gates, Anna Katherine “Katey” Gates, and Hubert Max “Bert” White II.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Alan Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to go to your local library or to the Boy Scouts of America.
