Betty Weaver, 67, of Pocahontas, TN
Ms. Weaver passed away early Saturday morning, December 28, 2013, in Memphis.
A native of Brownfield, MS, she was the daughter of the late H. L. “Tom” Weaver and Geneva Jones Weaver and a life-long resident of the Pocahontas area.
Betty was a long-time member of the Oak Grove Independent Methodist Church where she had been active as the church’s original Youth Director, a Sunday School Teacher and was Secretary/Treasurer for many years. She was a retired engraver from ThyssenKrupp Elevators (formerly known as “Dover”) after working over 40 years. Ms. Weaver was a 1964 graduate of Middleton High School. Among her interests were her love for her family, the Great Smoky Mountains and Southern Gospel Music. She was especially fond of traveling with her sister to various gospel “singings” in the area.
She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Weaver of Pocahontas; her brother, Bobby Weaver, and his wife, Shenia, of Walnut, MS; her sister-in-law, Nola Mae Weaver of Hornsby; 11 nieces and nephews – Jimmy Weaver, Janice Elrod, Cindy Shields, Robert Weaver, Lisa Grantham, Leah Wages, Kathy Weaver, Michael Weaver, Geneva Linell, LeAnn Carter and Brandon Weaver; 13 great nieces and nephews, 3 great-great nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Billy Weaver.
