Betty Virginia Wright-Proctor – Obituary

Betty Virginia Wright-Proctor, 80, died peacefully in her sleep November 15, 2016. She was a native of Decatur, Al, and was a graduate of Decatur High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ripley Proctor; parents, Price and Grace Honeycutt Wright; brothers, William Price Wright, Jr. (Billy) and Robert Daniel Wright (Dan).

Betty is survived by sons, Donald R. Proctor (Tonya) of Birmingham, Al and Ron Proctor (Deniece) of Fayetteville, TN and daughter, Chemberland Carolyn Shultz (Eric) of Moscow Mills, MI. Other survivors are grandchildren, Trey and Whitten Proctor, Jessica and Erica Shultz, great-grandson Chance Alexander Proctor and sister, Lela Carolyn Wright Ray (Wayne) and brothers, Tommy and David Wright, several nieces and nephews.

Through her husband’s service with the US Air Force, Betty enjoyed a life of travel and learned to never take her freedom for granted. She worked as a security contractor in the area and when she retired, she moved to Huntsville, Al. Betty loved teaching Creative Writing at the Huntsville Senior Center and sharing her many art projects and life experiences with others.
