Betty Sue Lansdell Johnson, age 78 of Leighton died Tuesday, October, 4, 2016. Visitation will be Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Friday, 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Nick McSpadden officiating. Burial will follow in Blackground Cemetery.
Betty was a native of Lawrence County but had been a life-long resident of Leighton. She was retired after twenty-six years of service with the Colbert Farmers’ Co-op in Tuscumbia. She was well loved by everyone in the local farming community. She also was employed with Model Drug Company; Felton’s Hardware of Leighton. She attended Abbie Baptist Church and was an active participant in the Leighton Senior Civic Center. Her smile and spirit could light up a room. She was always quick to help anybody in any way possible, even if it was just calling and checking up on her beloved friends and family. Her heart of gold made her a pillar of her community and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Johnson; children, Thomas Houston Johnson, Donna Jo Johnson; parents, Floyd and Ida Mae Lansdell; four brother and four sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jane Borden and husband Jim; brothers, Samuel “Bit” Lansdell and wife Delores, Joe Lansdell; grandchildren; Emily Hare, Anna Dunn, LaShonda Horton and husband Kevin, and Amanda Borden; great-grandchildren and her heart, Jon David and Braden Hare; great-grandchildren, Edward Sparks and wife Sarah, Drake Sparks, Leigh Sparks, Allie Mitchell, Kourtney Joyner; great-great grandchild, Maylen Sparks.
Pallbearers will be family.
The family expresses special thanks to Romana Chaney, Tammy Thompson, Kelsey South and Hospice of the Tennessee Valley.
