Betty Sue Aron PolkBetty Sue Aron Polk of Algoma , age 89, passed away July 18th at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mrs Polk had suffered a stroke five days earlier and went peacefully to be with her Savior Thursday night. Betty Sue was born June 19, 1935 in Pontocola, MS to James Delma and Gola Overby Aron. She moved to Algoma, MS as a baby and was a life-long resident there. Betty Sue was a graduate of Algoma High School and an active member of Monroe Presbyterian Church in Algoma.
Betty Sue was preceded in death by her parents, James Delma and Gola Overby Aron,  James D Polk, her husband of 60 years,  brother Winston Aron, sister-in-law Carolyn Polk Miller, and daughter-in-law Carla Gueringer Polk.
She is survived by sons Mike Polk, Tim Polk and daughter-in-law Shannon Polk, a sister Peggy Jean Aron Young (Carl), Bobby Miller brother-in-law,  grandchildren Laura Polk Vaughan (Caleb), Jay Polk, and Leanna Polk Payne (Landon), great-grandchildren Ellen Vaughan , GG Vaughan, and Lucy Vaughan. She also cherished her relationships with nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Known affectionately as “MomMom”, Betty Sue loved working in her yard and flowers, and was blessed to be able to be very active with this to the very end of her life. She enjoyed feeding and watching the many varieties of birds that she was able to attract to her yard including many hummingbirds.  She stayed in a continual contest with the squirrels who stole feed from the birds.
Visitation will be at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, Sunday July 21st from 12:00 until 3:00 with Funeral to follow at 3:00.  Reverend  Butch Odom will officiate. There will be no graveside service.
