Celebration of Life service for Betty Sanders Shields 83 is set for 1:00pm Thursday at Iuka First Pentecostal Church with Bro. William Lambert Officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
Betty died November 29, 2021 at NMMC Iuka; she was born October 20, 1938 in Iuka, MS. to the late Talmadge and Helen Sanders. She was a lifelong member of Iuka First Pentecostal Church, where she served as church secretary for many years. She was a graduate of Iuka High School; she was retired after 40 plus years from Genesco Shoe Co. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family and church family. She was often called “Aunt Grandma” by her great great nieces and nephews who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Shields; parents; brothers, Bobby Gerald Sanders, Paul Clayton Sanders, David Hubert Sanders; sisters, Lois Lyle Grissom, Martha Ann Sanders.
She is survived by her step-sons, Clayton Lee Shields and Michael Lane Shields; sister, Anna Shadburn; sister-in-laws, Gayra Sanders and Rebecca Sanders; host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers, Brain Grissom, Brandon Grissom, , Reily Grissom, Rylan Daniels, Cody Melton, Caleb Melton.
Honorary, Jonathan Terry, Stephen Terry, Blake Melton, Reuben Grissom.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:00 and Thursday 11:00 am to service time all at Iuka First Pentecostal Church.
