Betty Ruth Barnett, age 77 of Decatur, AL, formerly of Haleyville, AL passed away Friday, September 8, 2023 at her residence after a brief battle of cancer. She worked for 27 years in the Haleyville High School Lunchroom before retiring. Her coworkers were her lifelong friends. She attended Faith Baptist Church. She loved shopping, thrift stores, reading, and watching the sun set. She was adored by her friends and family, and she adored them. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville, AL with Dr. Ron Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist #2 Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnett is survived by her son, Gregory Barnett; daughter, Angela Barnett; sister, Kathy Harbin; brother Donnie (Elette) Cagle; in laws, Gail Barnett, Elton and Janice Barnett, Etridge Barnett, Johnny and Paulette Barnett, Ellon Bates, Kay and Jimmie Harbin, Gary and Kathy Gardner and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Hazel Ruth Jackson Cagle; her husband, Jimmy Earl Barnett; brothers, Ronnie Cagle, Michael Hollis Cagle, Sr.; sisters Jean Boucher, Faye Lovett, Linda Snell and Judy Ray; sister in law, Diane Southern Cagle; and brothers in law, A G Lovett and Lacy Barnett.
