Betty Riggs, 82, of Tuscumbia passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Danny Russell officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Colbert County. She was retired from TVA where she worked as an administrative secretary. Betty was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served as the church clerk. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was an avid listener and fan of southern gospel music. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Riggs Louk; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Younes, Amanda Sue Younes, and Corey Shane Louk.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James F. Riggs; son, James A. Riggs; daughter, Susan Riggs Nadell (John); brother, Charles Allen (Kitty); grandchildren, Barry Lee Younes, Jr., Katherine Elizabeth Nadell, James Andrew Riggs, and Bryant Andrew Nadell; great-grandchildren, Micah Lee Younes and Nava Liora Younes.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church missionary, Rosenda Pruneda.
