it is with sorrow and love that we mourn the passing of Betty R. Porter, of Owasso, OK on April 11, 2024, at the age of 97 years.
Born on October 12, 1926, in Chattanooga, TN, Betty was committed to her family and an avid bridge player. She was a long-time employee of Helena National Bank (now Partners Bank) where she served many customers as a teller. She was always up for a shopping excursion and especially celebrated a well spotted bargain. She and her husband, Lloyd, spent many afternoons browsing through antique stores looking for unique finds. She took great delight in decorating for Christmas, especially her tree and making sure that everyone had just what they wanted under that tree.
Betty was married to Lloyd W. Porter (deceased 2005), and from their loving union came three children: Jim Knight, Betsy Arnold (Bobby) and Susan Thomas (Randy). She was a cherished grandmother (known as Mammy) to four grandchildren: Sarah Jayne Thomas, Nina Castaldi (Nathan), Robert Lloyd Arnold (Charlee) and Lori Beth Fowble (Arin) and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Lloyd W. Porter, father, John T. Robertson, her mother, Adelia B. Spivey and brother, Tommy Robertson. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
A remembrance will be held on April 18th at 2:00 pm at Dighton Moore Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso, OK. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Saturday April 20, 2024 at 11:00am in Scottsboro, AL.
