Betty Parsell McFall was born in Mercer County, West Virginia on September 20, 1931. She passed into eternity on April 24, 2024 at the Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Facility in Florence, Alabama, after an extended illness. She was, in her time, a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, some of whom called her Nona, while others named her Grand-Betty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Etta Parsell; by three brothers, Curtis, Paul, and C.L. Parsell, and by two sisters, Ruby Short and Dorothy Jones, as well as a special sister-in-law, Cathlene Parsell. Also, preceding her in death were her loving husband of 64 years, Ken McFall, and her sweet daughter, Karen Lancaster, and fine son-in-law, Jim Lancaster. Betty was the last surviving member of her generation on both sides of her family.
She is survived by two sons, Steve McFall (wife Deborah) of Florence, and Scott McFall (wife Becky) of Athens.
She was blessed with many grandchildren: David McFall (Terri); Rachel Hardison (Richard); Daniel McFall (Stacey); Sara McFall; Timothy McFall; Kane Lancaster (Mellany); Brooke Lancaster; Lindsey Lancaster; Tad McFall (Sarah); and, Julie Smith (Charlie); Heath Sockwell (Dusty); Drew Sockwell (Teri); Sarah Harris (Shannon). She also had numerous great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Olivia McFall; Abby Wesson, Lane Ennis (Hunter), Graham Hardison; Aubrie and Kaylie McFall; Bradley Tapscott and Andrew Tapscott (Anna Grace); Mack Dobbs; Hannah and Minnie Blackman; Grant Harris; Brentyn Lancaster, Charlotte Lancaster; Maddox and Carter Ramos; Brody and Paige Prince; Tom McFall; Benjamin Patterson.
Mrs. McFall worked, in her earlier years as an X-ray technician, and she always maintained she was very good at her job. After many years she retired from Roger’s Department Store, having worked in the credit department as a bookkeeper.
She loved the Lord and her church family, and they loved her. Over the years she attended Stony Point Church of Christ, Petersville Church of Christ, Jackson Heights Church of Christ, and finally, Pine Hill Church of Christ.
The family thanks the good folks at Columbia Cottage assisted living facility, and the staff at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Rehab, and the staff of Affinity Hospice for their kindness to our beloved mother, and grandmother.
Friends and family visitation will be at Greenview Memorial Chapel on Sunday, April 28, from 1 until 3 p.m. The funeral will commence at 3 p.m., with burial to follow at Greenview Cemetery. Brian Jarrett will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tad McFall, Jonathan McFall, Brentyn Lancaster, Brody Prince, Maddox Ramos, and Carter Ramos.
