Funeral services for Betty McGough Waits Lacey age 90 of Lineville will be held on Friday February 16, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville, with Bro. Pat Hurst and Tom Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens in Anniston.

Mrs. Lacey passed away at her residence on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born in Walker County, Alabama, was a former resident of Long Beach, California before returning to Clay County in 1979. Betty enjoyed quilting, gardening, and fishing as some of her favorite past times and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Local 120, also “Worthy Matron”, and Daughters of the Nile.

Betty is survived by her son Karl Waits (Phyllis), 2 grandchildren, Emily Masten (David) and Justin Waits (Brittany), and four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ellieanna Masten, and Harley and Mayhayley Waits all of Lineville, four sisters, Martha Carol Blackwell of Crestview, Florida, Lucy Gail Crabb of LaMiRada, CA, Susan Estelle Bogelsange of Santa Rosa, CA, and Judy Spalding of Upland, CA, two brothers, Fred McGough of Ohatchee and Gary McGough of Canyon Lake, CA. and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie McGough and Opal Lee Watts, husbands, Jack Waits and George Lacey, her sister Mary Lou McGough, and three brothers, Dorman, Dan, and Randy McGough.

Pall bearers will be Jay Freshhour, Tom Strickland, Cody Higgins, Josh David, Patrick Ratley, and Larry Duff.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Friday February 16, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. until service time at 10:00 A.M.
