Betty Lou Gray Betty Lou Gray “Mamaw”, age 85, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, November 4, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
Betty was born on October 24, 1937, in Maury County, Tennessee to the late Jim Cecil Wiley Odom and Margaret Dolly Odom.
On June 4, 1955, she traveled down to Iuka, Mississippi and married the love of her life, James and together they started their family and watched it blossom together for many years.
Betty was a strong and outgoing woman. She was fiercely independent. She loved Facebook and being able to socialize and connect with her friends and family. She was a skilled crafter. She could crotchet anything and loved to go to auctions and find furniture to reupholster. Betty also had a green thumb and loved to garden and plant any and all flowers that she could bloom. She loved to decorate for Christmas and won many awards for the Mt. Pleasant Community.
Betty was headstrong but loved her family dearly. She will be missed and cherished forever in their hearts.
Betty is reunited with her husband James Albert Gray; brothers: Felix Odom and Buford Odom; sisters: Ina Lovell and Kathy Thompson; granddaughter: Brittney Blankenship; and parents: Jim Cecil Wiley Odom and Margaret “Dolly” Christine Odom.
Those left to cherish Mrs. Betty’s memories are her children: Patricia (Tildon) Workman, Anthony (Stephanie) Gray, Timmy (Mary Ann) Gray, and Bobby (Regina) Gray; grandchildren: Brandi (Chris) Boshers, Zandi Workman, Chandi (Eddie) Tosh, Candy (Billy) Branton, Toni (Teenie) Floyd, Chris (Tara) Gray, Brian (Kayla) Gray, David (Bridgett) Hudgins, Tony (Kelley) Gray, Steph (Chloe) Gray, Dewayne (Breanna) Gray, Terry (Anna) Lovett, Derek (Melissa) Gray, Samantha Gray, and Brittany (Brittney) Kennedy; 40 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Casey, Julie, Alexis, Donna, Britiny, and Misty of Caris Healthcare in Columbia, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Gray, Brian Gray, David Hudgins, Tony Gray, Dewayne Gray, Derek Gray, Eddie Tosh, and Ryan Gray.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. A service for Betty will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Bro. Randy McNeece and Randy Kersey officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens next to her husband, James.
Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
