Betty Lou Barnes James, 83, resident of Tiplersville, went to be with her Lord on Saturday July 1, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral Services honoring the Life of Mrs. James will be 1 PM Wednesday July 5, 2023, at County Line Baptist Church will Bro. Blake Shankle and Bro. David Shepard officiating. Visitation will be 11 AM until 1 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at County Line Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.

Born January 17, 1940, in Walnut, Mrs. James was the daughter of the late Acy and Lonia Mae Tate Barnes. She received her education in the North Tippah School System and was married to her beloved husband, Marlin David James on May 26, 1956, for sixty years before his passing on November 2, 2016. Mrs. James was homemaker for most of her life and took pride in being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.

A Christian and member of County Line Baptist Church, she had a servant’s heart. She was very talented and had the ability to do anything she put her mind to. She had a passion for painting, crafts, baking, and fishing. A caring lady who actively engaged in life, Mrs. James always put God first, then her family and doted over her grandchildren. She read her bible daily, prayed for everyone continuously, and always gave to others. She loved every minute she shared with her family and was always happiest surrounded by them. Mrs. James made her life count and her legacy will be that of a true Christian lady.

Those left to share memories include one daughter, Debbie Rutherford (Terry), one son, William Ray James (Orpha Mae), two sisters, Barbara Cameron and Linda Crum, one brother, Don Barnes (Kathy), eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Patterson, one sister, Clara Willis, one brother, Jimmy Barnes, and two grandchildren, Nick Patterson and Christina Dye.
