Betty LaVerne Hodges Smith passed away on December 25, 2023. She was born on January 21, 1934 in Iron City, TN, the daughter of the late Alta Sarah Catherine and Elmer Jackson Hodges. She was a longtime employee of Angelica Manufacturing Company in Collinwood, TN and was a devoted member of the Salem Church of Christ in Florence, AL. Betty married William Lawson Smith and became a wonderful mother to six children.
Betty is preceded in death by four of her children, Bobby Smith, Elizabeth Burns, Lois Jean Wilson, and Susan Stults; as well as a grandson, Christopher Wilson.
She is survived by two children, Faye Davis (Steve) and Nancy Reed; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren
Visitation will be held Friday, December 29th, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm service time at Salem Church of Christ in Florence AL.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 29th, at 2:00 pm at Salem Church of Christ in Florence AL. Burial will follow in Railroad Cemetery in Iron City, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
