Betty Kirk, age 91, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. She was the wife of S.J. “Jack” Kirk, Jr. for 62 years. She had retired from Goodyear. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Jack, grandson Jon Kirk, and sisters Lucille Cannon and Pat Smith. She is survived by her two children Sam (Rebecca) Kirk and daughter Mary Kirk Atkins; grandchildren Stephen (Vicki) Kirk and Paige Atkins Brown; great grandchildren Baylor Langdale, Cameron Brown, Connor Brown, Sellers Kirk, Bo Kirk, Katie Kirk, amd Molly Kirk; and her fur baby Lily. She also has numerous nieces and nephews she loved as if they we her own. She was an active member of East Gadsden United Methodist Church and had taught many Sunday School Classes until health issues prohibited. She loved her Lord was a very faithful member and love serving her church when she was able to attend. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Carlton and Adele McCloud. The family would like to thank Dr. Oluwole Akisanya, MD and his office staff, as well as Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care given to Betty. Also special thanks to Glenda Hester RN, Jamie Griffin and Shirley Headrick RN. A private family graveside service will be held 1pm Monday January 31, 2022. Shawn Sims will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 8th Avenue , 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001; or the Rozzy Foundation for Childhood Cancer; 410 Meadowlark Place; Gadsden, AL, 35903.
