Betty June Green Davis, 86, passed away on March 22, 2017. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral to follow in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Betty was born in Huntsville, Alabama on June 24, 1930. She lived most of her life in Huntsville. Later in life, she moved to Decatur to be close to her family. Betty graduated from Huntsville High School and attended the University of Alabama. She married Sam L. Davis on December 25, 1951 and was married to him for 26 years. They were members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Betty was a homemaker for most of her life. Early in her marriage, Betty worked for the Army at Redstone Arsenal. Later in life, she owned and operated Betty D’s Accessories on South Memorial Parkway.
Betty was very active in civic matters. She was a founding member of the Parkway Estates – Fleming Hills Civics Association and was the primary association member instrumental in the construction of the neighborhood swimming pool. She also worked tirelessly campaigning for several Huntsville mayoral candidates.
Betty enjoyed fishing, Crimson Tide football, and more than anything else, loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She especially doted on her cats and actively supported animal rights charities.
Betty is survived by her son Samuel Eddie Davis, and his wife Dianne; grandson Nick Davis; brother, Grady Ray Green (Alise) of Sheffield. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John William Green and Matilda Pitsinger Green; brothers Frank Green (Evelyn), J. W. Green (Jean); and sisters, Thelma Patterson (Pat) and Joann Whitley (E.C.).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntsville Humane Society or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
