Betty Joyce Sockwell, 77, of Leighton, AL passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 12-2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Bro. Ted Vafeas, Bro. Charlie James, and Bro. Michael South will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
She was a wonderful caregiver, homemaker, and devoted friend. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Ray Sockwell; parents, M.D. McGregor, Jr. and Louise Jackson (Ruby); brother-in-law’s, Wayne Peebles and Kenneth Sockwell.
She is survived by her sons, Barry Sockwell and Mike Sockwell (Linda); daughter, Allison Campbell (Randy); sisters, Barbara Peebles and Gwen Myers (David); sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Sockwell and Jerri Sockwell (Robert); grandchildren, Alexander Sockwell (Alex), Tate Sockwell (Caroline Bishop), Jordan Fretwell, and Austin Fretwell; great grandchildren, Jaxton Sockwell and Jett Sockwell; numerous nieces and nephews; close family and friends, Tony and Renee South, Ryan and Ashley Keenum and family.
Pallbearers will be Terry Peebles, Allen King, Matthew Myers, Braylon Peebles, Ryan Keenum, Chris Craft, Lee Craft, and Joey Hagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony South, Keith Sockwell, Ken Sockwell, and Mark Sockwell.
