Betty was born on October 26, 1934, in New Orleans, Louisiana to James Paul and Verda Jones and grew up with her brother Jimmy and sister Skeets. After high school Betty worked at Amoco Oil Company, which is where she met her future husband and love of her life, Larry Dwyer. The two were married on June 25, 1955 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They welcomed their first born, Michael, in 1961 in New Orleans. Amoco took them on their next adventure to Baltimore, Maryland, which is where they welcomed their second son, Mark, in 1965. In 1973 they next moved to Atlanta, Georgia where they stayed until 1979, then Olathe, Kansas from 1979 until 1988. In 1988 they retired to Diamondhead, Mississippi until their third hurricane, Hurricane Katrina, sent them back to tornado alley in Overland Park, Kansas in 2006 where they lived until 2017. In retirement, Betty and Larry volunteered for 10 years at Olathe Medical Center in the Rehabilitation Services and Ambulatory Surgery Departments where they made many friends. Betty and Larry moved to Madison, Alabama in November 2017 to be close to their first granddaughter Kathleen, her husband David, and their two children Ellie and Charlie. Betty is survived by sons Mike (fiancée Kim) and Mark (spouse Jackie), grandchildren Kathleen (spouse David), Jarrod (spouse Jenny), Brenna, Danny, Kelly, Matthew, Sara, Alex, and great grandchildren Ellie, Charlie, and Lillian. Special thanks to Rachel Edmondson and her crew of home care attendants with At Home Care who made Betty’s last months at home joyful and comfortable.
