Funeral service for Betty Johnson Hughes, 76, Decatur will be Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday May 24, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Hughes who died Friday May 21, 2016 was born on March 28, 1940, in Decatur, AL to Daniel W Johnson and Mary Ellen Mears Johnson. She was a member of the Church of God in Somerville. She played the piano in church for years. She was a devoted Mother. She is preceded in death by her twin Billy Ray Johnson and two sons, Charles Hughes and
Michael Craig Hughes, and her parents.
She is survived by two sons; Wallace Kenneth Hughes and Grady Dean Hughes, three daughters; Jerita Hughes, Shelia Cook, and Terrie Hughes Kent, one brother; Billy Wayne Johnson, two sisters; Martha Billings and Doris Hutchins, fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
