Our loving and beautiful mother, Betty Jo Wicks Hendrick, passed peacefully to her heavenly eternal home on Saturday, May 24, 2024. She was 90 years old.
She was born on August 25, 1933 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to the late Joseph Edward Rowland and Edna Leola Waldrop. Betty Jo and her sisters loved singing together at church. She was in the choir at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Robbinsville, NC where she was a soloist. She was a Dental Assistant for over 20 years and furthered her education to become a hygienist. She became President of the Mississippi Dental Assistant’s Association.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Kay Anderson and Constance Renee Rice and her husband Gary; her sister, Carolyn Jean Ainsworth; and her stepchildren, Kelly Hendrick Morea, Tanya Gail Hendrick and husband John, William Timothy Hendrick and wife Debbie, and Glenda Gail Hendrick. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur D. Wicks, Jr. and William Donald Hendrick; son-in-law, Larry Anderson; stepson, James Dale Hendrick; and sisters, Janet Elaine VanDevender and Patsy Ann Lucas. Her greatest joy in her later years has been family time with her six grandchildren. They are Candice Jo Anderson and husband Dean, Angela Renee Vereen and husband Sean, Bo Rice and wife Rebekah, Michael Anderson and wife Roxanne, Heather Dilmore and husband David, and Adam Rice and wife Sarah. She’s been blessed with 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at Scottsboro Funeral Home. A service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with Steve Barber (Pastor of Riverside Baptist Church) and her grandson, Adam Rice (Associate Pastor of Capshaw Baptist Church) officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. (EST) at Lone Oak Cemetery in Robbinsville, NC on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
