Betty Jo Partlow Trammel was born on October 26, 1931 to the late William Cowan Partlow and Moman Whitehead Partlow, both pioneer Plantersville families. After a remarkable life of 93 years lived with love for God, her family and a heart filled with grace and gratitude, Betty Jo slipped quietly from this life to her home in eternity from her room at Rosewood Retirement Home. Betty Jo grew up in the pristine surroundings of Plantersville with her four sisters and one brother and other significant family members surrounded by love and encouragement. She was an ace basketball player on the 1949 Plantersville High School Girls basketball team. On Feb. 4, 1950, she married Edwin Lewis Trammel, her sweetheart and constant companion until his death on Oct. 15, 2020, a marriage of 70 years! A special lady, Betty Jo lived a life of service to others, especially her family. She doted over her children but oh, those grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were MeMaw or NaNa’s pride and joy. She loved spending time with them, loved shopping especially Amazon, and was a master self-taught interior designer with a special touch. Her room at Rosewood was her signature work. Betty Jo worked for many years as a secretary for J. J. Rogers Wholesale and, at age 75, spent the rest of her working life at Hancock Fabrics until it closed. She spent her growing up years in the Plantersville Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church-Tupelo at her death.
