Betty Jo Johnson Bevis, age 79 of Tuscumbia, died Monday, April 24, 2017. Her family will receive friends Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 11:30-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Jim Warren, Tim Griffin and George Henley officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Betty was a Tuscumbia native, a member of Hook Street Baptist Church, and a living example of Christian love and compassion. She was concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with her own, even until the end. She was preceded in death by her son Lance Bevis.
She is survived by her husband, Jackie Donald Bevis of Tuscumbia; son, Farron Joe Bevis and wife Jo Ann of Leighton; daughter, Valissa Bevis Burnham and husband Dan of Pensacola, FL; brother, Gene Johnson and wife Sheila of Waterloo, AL; sisters, Willene Davis and husband Edward, of Oakland, TN, Ann Herndon and husband Bill, of Stockbridge, GA; five grandchildren, Kristy Bevis and husband, Ben Tanner, Jessica Peebles Mandrell and husband Mark, Alex Peebles, Wesley Peebles and John Burnham; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Trey Behel, Dan Burnham, Trey Davis, Bill Herndon, Kris Johnson, Don Lenz, and Alex Peebles.
Honorary pallbearers are Lawrence Alexander, Lendon Balentine, Terry Franks, Rex Hall and Bill Wooten.
