Betty Jo Hardy Mrs. Betty Jo Hardy of Jackson, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior December 9, 2021. She was a resident of Jackson, Alabama for 16 years where she was an active member of First Baptist Church. She had many friends that she dearly loved.

 

Mrs. Hardy was a native of Columbia, Tennessee, was the daughter of the late Ronald Thomas Sharp and the late Ona Sharber Sharp. She was the widow of Robert Walter Hardy.

Mrs. Hardy was a very gifted writer. She wrote columns and news for four state newspapers and won three awards from state associations. She also authored an inspirational book, “His Children’s Children”.

In Memphis, Mrs. Hardy was a member of the Shelby County Republican Women’s Club and the Memphis Germantown Art League. She also did volunteer work for the Stephen Alford Institution of Biblical Preaching.

In Columbia, she was a member of the Annie White Circle of the King’s Daughters and Sons and was a volunteer for Hospice of Highland Rim. She also wrote a column for The Daily Herald.

Mrs. Hardy is survived by her two daughters, Amy (Ken) Hundley and Lisa (Mike) Langley; brother, Ron (Becky) Sharp; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Mrs. Hardy will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
