Betty Jean Wilson, age 85, passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends and July 19, 2012, after a brief illness.
She was a native of Lauderdale County, Ala., retired from Tee Jays and a longtime member of Mary’s Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Wilson was affectionately known as “Granny” to those who loved her, and her family will always cherish the “Sunday dinners” at Bett’s Diner.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 20, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Loretto Memorial Chapel. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Mary’s Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Lexington. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the Church and burial will follow in Richardson Chapel Cemetery. Randy French and Mike Crews will officiate.
Mrs. Wilson’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Her great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Wilson; parents, Dan and Mary Morrison; stepmother, Mamie Morrison; sisters, Maudie Killen and Cynthia Allen; and one brother, John Nelson.
Survivors include her children, Larry and Joann Moore, of Florence, Don and Judy Holden, of Greenhill, Lexie and Sheila Holden, of Greenhill, Keith and Hilda Wilson, of Lexington; grandchildren, Michele Moore, Deanna Moore, Rodney and Tonya Holden, Clay and Melissa Holden, Barry and Bridget Holden, Chad and Julia Beth Holden, Dustin Wilson and Tyler and Carla Dodd; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Eli, Brady, Avery and Conner Holden; sisters, Reba Green, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. and Opal Hamner, of Florence; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American CancerSociety or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
