Betty Jean Snyder, age 78 of Cowan, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Belfast, Tennessee on August 5, 1942 to the late Paul Thomas and Edna Mae (Williams) Cheeves. Before her retirement, she had been employed for Singer Corporation and had retired as a CNA after working at Life Care Center and Harton Hospital. In her younger years, Betty Jean enjoyed cooking and sewing, as well as reading. But most of all, she cherished the time spent with her beloved family. She was a member of Free Spirit Baptist Church in Decherd. In addition to her parents, Betty Jean was preceded in death by her husband, George Snyder; siblings, Paul Thomas Cheeves Jr, and Helen Virginia Hammonds; and nephews, Tommy Cheeves, Lonnie Cheeves, and Perry Hammonds. She is survived by her loving children, Wendell (Rhonda) Golden of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Melodie (Wayne) Kight of Unionville, Donald (Rosemary) Golden of Tullahoma, Tim (Teresa) Golden of Lynchburg, and Brenda (Henry) Dodson Jr of Cowan; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, George (Debbie) Cheeves of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Chaplin Jerry Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Christopher Sumner, Brandon Platt, Taylor Kight, Ryan Golden, Brittany McGinniss, Diane Holder, Josh McGinniss serving as pallbearers and Aaron Holder serving as honorary pallbearers.
