Funeral for Betty Jean Fitzgerald McKinney, 83, of Decatur will be Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Sims officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. McKinney, who died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at her residence, was born May 6, 1930, in Alabama to George Thomas Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Rose Fitzgerald. She was a homemaker. Her hobbies were flowers, reading, care of strays, and cooking. Her husband, Harold E. McKinney Sr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Harold E. “Eddie” McKinney Jr. of Decatur; two daughters, Claudia Osborne of Decatur and Cynthia Bice of Pell City; one sister, Alma Lawrence of Gardendale; four grandchildren, Tiffany Bice Wilbanks, Shawn McKinney, Kevin Walters and Johnny Bice; two stepgreat-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Harold McKinney Jr., Shawn McKinney, Johnny Bice, Kevin Walters, Mike Wahoski and Steve Connor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 417 Main Street NW, Hanceville, AL 35077.
