Betty Jean (Evans) Behr passed away peacefully on August 12, 2022, at her Huntsville, AL home surrounded by family and friends. Betty was born in Excelsior, West Virginia on September 5, 1934, to George Wesley and Lydia Marie (Mahone) Evans. Betty was brought up in a loving two-room home with her father, five brothers and sister. Although they were poor, their upbringing was rich with precious memories, faith, and love. When Betty was 18, she moved to New Jersey, and later to Michigan where she worked for Chrysler Corporation for 30 years.

Betty lived life to the fullest! She fell in love, not once, or twice, but four times! Her love of 20 years was with Russ Behr, whom she divorced in 2005, but remained friends and companions until his death in 2019. Since 2005, Betty has treasured the love of her children, sisterhood and friendship. She enjoyed watching football, square dancing, line dancing, and weekly card games with her beloved friends. She also loved to travel which included many trips to Hawaii, 13 cruises, and a trip to Italy.

Betty is survived by her three brothers, Jerry (Milly) Evans, Dennis (Beverley) Evans, and Roger Evans; her sister, Irene Click; two daughters, Debbie (Dave) Vannatta, and Lisa (Doug) Richardson; son, Ronald (Jeorge) Emerson; stepsons, Carl Behr and Paul (Lynn) Behr; grandchildren, Michelle Martin, Brandon (Holly) Holliday, and Aaron Richardson; great-grandchildren, Shayla Chebbi, Jordan Merlin, Ashton and Angelo Holliday; and step-grandchildren, Alex and Avery Behr. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Francie Smith; her brothers, Walter and Robert; her brother in-law, Clinton Click; and her sisters in-law, Sue, Janice and Denise Evans.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life for both Betty Behr and her daughter, Francie Smith, who passed away July 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Doug Merchant officiating.
