Betty Jane Ikard Finley, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2023. Betty was born on August 9, 1936, and lived in Big Cove, Alabama all of her life. She and her loving husband, Ted, were married for 52 years. She was the loving, serving, and caring mother of three sons and grandmother to eight grandchildren. She loved spending time visiting with her family and friends. She had many hobbies which included, cooking, gardening, traveling, bird watching, and singing along to her favorite gospel hymns. She enjoyed serving at her local church for many years and had many dear friends there. She was well known for her famous pecan pies, and countless other homemade southern favorites. She always had a kind, caring, and gentle spirit. Her grandchildren called her Granny and Dee and enjoyed many years spending time with her.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Gary and wife, Nawana, Terry and wife, Robbin, and Kirk and wife, Christie; eight grandchildren, Austin and wife, Sarah, Garrett, Morgan and fiancée, Haley, Heath, Courtney, Drake, Michael, and Tate; sister, Mary Ann Blakemore and husband, Tommy; nephew, Thomas Blakemore; and sister-in-law, Linda Ikard. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Terry “Ted” Finley; brother, James Edward Ikard; mother, Grace Ikard; and father, Ed Ikard.
Betty was blessed to be able to stay at home during the final season of her life. Her family would like to especially thank the many caregivers who lovingly cared for and assisted her over the last three years, as well as her dear friend, Harry Neal Fields, for his frequent visits.
