Betty Fitzgerald Henry, age 91, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
Our Mother is in the arms of Our Lord after a brave battle with ovarian cancer. Betty was Preceded in death of her “one love” Byron H. Henry Jr, married 51 years; parents T.W. and Sophia Fitzgerald; brothers Thomas and George Fitzgerald; sister Barbara; and son Scott F. Henry.
Survived to cherish her memory is her daughter Dr. Donna H. White (Ralph); Byron Louis Henry (Lori); Myron Thomas Henry (Patti); grandchildren Carrie Lynn; Magen; Thornton (Jessica Ann). Many nieces and nephews; Sisters Joyce Sweeton; Judy Smith; Brother Dr. Joseph Fitzgerald.
Betty served the City of Huntsville Police Department for 28 years rising from a Crossing Guard to Sergeant. She was instrumental in establishing Safety Patrol programs across the city including McGruff the Crime Dog, Crash Dummies; Safety City as well as numerous hours directing HC traffic for events. Her smiling face was seen volunteering at eh Humane Society and Whitesburg Baptist Church.
Our family would like to thank the Hospice Southern Care, New Beacon, Jennifer Sewell Walker, Steve Spray, Dr. Cantrell, Star Market Pharmacy, family at Fleming Farms, special friends Alice Damphouse and Beverly Martin. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her honor to Huntsville Humane Society, Southern Beacon Hospice, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Police Bereavement Fund, or a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be Saturday February 11, 2023 10-11am in the Chapel at Valhalla Funeral Home 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville Alabama 35811 with a Celebration of Life following at 11am in the Chapel.
