Betty E. Ford – Obituary

Betty Browning Ford, age 81, passed from this life Sept. 15, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was a native of Booneville, Mississippi and had resided in Tuscumbia since 1962. She was a resident of Morningside for the past three years. Her family will receive friends today, noon-1:30 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Brother Seth Hood officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Methodist Cemetery, Booneville, Mississippi.

Betty was a member of First Baptist Church, Colbert Heights, and Tuscumbia Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, Daughters of 1812, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was an RN and retired from Colbert County Health Department after 28 years of service. She earned her B.S. in Nursing from UNA at age 48 and enjoyed traveling and doing genealogy research in her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ford; daughter, Robbye Marecle; her parents, Horace and Aline Browning; and brother, Max Browning.

She is survived by her son, Mike Marecle (Rosemary), of Saltillo, Mississippi; daughter, Laura Fuller (Jack), of Colbert Heights; three grandchildren, Matt Wilburn (Natalie), of Saltillo, Mississippi, Trae Fuller (Amber), of Iuka, Mississippi, and Aleah Harris (Griffin), of Colbert Heights; six great-grandchildren and the anticipated arrival of Beau; and sister, Judy Jumper, of Booneville, Mississippi.

Pallbearers are Walter Downs, Matt Wilburn, Griffin Harris, Trae Fuller, Joe Keeton, and Kevin Wallace.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Family Ministries at 2754 Mattox St., Tupelo, MS 38801 or First Baptist Church of Colbert Heights at 6000 Woodmont Dr., Tuscumbia, AL 35674.
