Betty “Dell” Bishop Page, 89, passed away Tuesday. Born in Wadley, AL, Dell was a cheerleader and played on the basketball team at Davison High School in Chambers County. She attended nursing school in Birmingham and married Milton Page in 1952.
She was a member of and past president of the Monte Sano Garden Club, past president of the Pilot Club, as well as a member of Burritt Museum Guild. She was a lifelong member of the Monte Sano community. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, and in her later years, she was a member of Monte Sano Methodist Church.
When she resided in Washington DC, she spent several days a week in the viewer’s balcony of Congress. She loved to travel, and she and Milton had many adventures both in the US and Europe.
Dell was a wonderful seamstress with needlepoint and smocking and made many christening gowns for her grandchildren. She loved to cook, was a perfect hostess, and was a joy to be around. She loved children, especially babies. Her greatest pride was her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Lurena Page Casey, Betty Amanda Mullins, Andrea Carla Murrell (Gary), and Amy Fay Grinstead (David); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Patricia Brown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Maple Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow at Monte Sano Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m.
