Betty Cotton Myers passed away Aug. 26, 2015, at her home in Baytown, Texas. A service was held on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Leighton, Alabama, where she was born and raised. She graduated from Colbert County High School in 1949.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John Byron Cotton and Rebecca Beaver Cotton.
She is survived by her daughter, Libby Myers; and sons, Will, Harry, and Eric Myers, all of Baytown, Texas; and one brother, Bill Cotton (Wilma), Leighton, Alabama.
She leaves behind ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and longtime friend, Kelly Martin.
Betty married Willard H. Myers in 1948. She was an active and faithful member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church for 40 years. She was best known for her beautiful smile and her loving spirit. She loved crocheting, crosswords, baking, canning, gardening, having luncheons and Friday night Skipbo. She helped build and owned multiple family businesses in the Baytown area. She volunteered at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital for over ten years.
She always greeted everyone with a smile and a hug and loved unconditionally. She was loved, respected and admired by those who knew her. Betty will be dearly missed and her memory will continue in our hearts and minds.
