Betty Carolyn Henson, age 75, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 31, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with an entombment immediately after the service at the Greenview Memorial – Love Mausoleum, with Bro. Charlie James officiating.

Pallbearers will be Pete May, David Hennessee, Lynn Henson, Chase Aday, Dustin Martin, and Tim Robertson.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Fowlkes, her mother, Hattie Mae Fowlkes Valentine, stepfather, Ottis Valentine, husband, Gene Henson, and daughter, Jennifer Henson Martin.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa May, Candace Irons, and Leigh Moody (Les); grandchildren, Crystal Holt (Jon), Brady Irons, Chad Hennessee (Erica), Tyler Cruse, James Irons, Jakob Smith, Johnathan Martin (Robin); and great grandchildren, Aubrey McCravy, Riley Holt, Preston Slay, Jonah Holt, Jack Holt, Trinity and Mikaelynn Martin.

Carolyn was a native of Florence, Alabama, where she attended Central High School. She was a member at Washington Park Baptist Church.

Carolyn was a beloved wife for thirty-five years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. A nurse for over thirty years, she dedicated her life to the care of others.

When she was younger, Carolyn enjoyed playing softball with friends, bowling in her bowling league, and dancing to good music. Later in life she enjoyed crocheting blankets for her children and grandchildren, fishing, visiting casinos and traveling with her daughters. She loved her family and enriched the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed.
