Betty Brooks “Ann” Hodges, 83, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, surrounded by her family at Huntsville Hospital. Betty was born July 21, 1940 to Lindsey Brooks and Lessie “Iretta” Vickers in Huntsville, Al. She was a proud retiree of the Huntsville Hilton where she served as the Supervisor of housekeeping for many years. Since the beginning, she was the matriarch of her family. Anyone that knew her, knows how much she loved everyone and taught us all to care for one another. Above all else, she taught us to love and trust in the Lord. She truly was a gift to all that knew her for so long.
Betty is preceded in death by her father Lindsey Brooks, her mother Iretta Vickers, her husband James “Buddy” Hodges, brother Gene Brooks, brother William Vickers, sister Lessie Vickers, and her daughter Kimberly Hodges. She is survived by her sons Mike Hodges (Stephanie) and Timmy Hodges (Victoria), daughter Tracy Patrick (Dusty), sisters Peggy Mullis, Linda Mitchell, Janice Brooks, Phyllis Billions, Billie Harbin Parks, Billie Jean McCool, Bessie Campbell, and Susie Vickers. Betty was very proud of her family where she boasted many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She never hesitated to let us all know, “She was the mother!”. She forever will be!
Please join the family in celebrating Betty’s life on July 22, 2024 with her viewing beginning at 6pm-8pm at Berryhill Funeral home, followed by a service on July 23, 2024 at 11am in the chapel. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Maple Hill Cemetery.
We love her and we miss her, but with God’s promise we will be reunited in paradise.
