Betty Berniece Keller Hasemeyer, age 92, born April 13, 1929, in Manteno, Illinois, to the late Edith Christina Petersen Keller and the late Lon Lowell Keller, went to be with her Lord Sunday, November 21, 2021.

When she was about 10, Betty and her parents all accepted Christ the same night. Later, as a teenager, Betty’s cousin saved her from falling out of a Ferris wheel in Chicago, to go onto a joyful life.

As a young person, Betty worked at a dime store, a bowling alley, a broom factory, babysat, cleaned houses, and painted fishing lures. After one year of college at Bob Jones University, she returned home and became a receptionist at A. 0. Smith and then a doctor’s assistant.

Earl Albert Hasemeyer was the only college graduate in his family. Betty invited Earl to evangelistic meetings where he became a Christian and quickly grew in the Lord. Earl was a man of integrity his whole life. They married in 1952 and had 3 children in Illinois. They lived in Momence and Kankakee.

Earl transferred from the Joliet, Ill, Arsenal to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, as a metallurgical engineer, eventually earning the highest metallurgical rank and working on Skylab with NASA, among many other projects. They settled in Guntersville since Huntsville “was a metropolis” in 1958. Their fourth child was born in Guntersville. They moved to Huntsville in 1964. Betty worked at Baskins Robbins, a donut shop and G. C. Murphy’s while managing her home and family throughout their marriage, Betty and Earl worked with children, teens or adults in many churches they attended. Betty led women’s Bible studies in homes and at the Downtown Rescue Mission. One of her favorite Bible verses is Romans 8:28. She was part of the Parkway Estates Homemakers Club, Christian Women’s Club and the N AL Shell Club. Betty was loving, gentle and compassionate her whole life. All 4 of their children and all 9 of their grandchildren are Bible-believing Christians and college graduates. What a legacy! They also will remember her faithfulness to acknowledge their special occasions with cards.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and his parents, Mary Steffens Hasemeyer and Albert August Hasemeyer, sisters-in-law Elsie Hasemeyer, Velma Hasemeyer Dungey and Eileen Neihouse Hasemeyer, brothers-in-law Bode Dungey and Berdel Hasemeyer, younger brothers Edward Keller and George Keller, nephews Ned Hasemeyer and Todd Alan, niece Charmaine Dungey, great-granddaughter Joy Hasemeyer and second husband Leslie Ellis.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Alan Taylor Hasemeyer (LeeAnn) and Gary Lee Hasemeyer, her daughters Laurie Jean Hasemeyer Hurt (Glenn) and Rebecca Ruth Hasemeyer Podolski, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, including one in heaven, her younger sister Ruth Ann Keller Doud (David), her sister-in-law Doris Black Keller, several cousins, 10 nieces and nephews and many loyal friends. Betty loved the Lord and those around her. She is truly loved and truly missed.

The family will hold a private memorial service. The Hasemeyer family may be reached at P. 0. Box 12503, Huntsville, AL 35815. The family is being served by Berryhill Funeral Home
