Betty Bernice Hollis Story, age 86, died peacefully on November 4, 2016 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN.
She was born on July 19, 1930 in Westpoint, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Robert Loyd Hollis and the late Birtie McGee Hollis.
She married Jack Story on July 6, 1946. This previous summer they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Betty was a housewife and enjoyed cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family and her teacup yorkie, “Ricky”. So many families have enjoyed one of Betty’s famous pecan pies at times of need, charity events, celebrations or sometimes as a random act of kindness.
She proudly attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Westpoint, Tennessee and enjoyed her church family.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Lee Andrews; her brothers, Hobert Hollis, James “Buddy” Hollis, and Frazier Hollis; and her darling granddaughter, Shannon Lynette Story. Our mother joins her family and life long friends, P. D. and Florence Wideman.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Story; four children, Patti Nelson (Alvin), Tommy Story (Diane), Donny Story (Terri), and Christy Willis (S. Q. “ChooChoo”); adopted daughter for life, Barbara Wideman Garland (Bob); eight grandchildren, Tim Nelson, Susie Davis, Keisha Story, Tippi Story, Aaron Story, Kacy Story, Brock Willis, and Blair Willis; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, November 05, 2016 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 05, 2016, with Jerry Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Wayne County, Tennessee. Family suggests memorials be made to her beloved Bethlehem Baptist Church.
