Betty Ballentine Peck passed from this life on August 26, 2023.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Audelle Atkison Ballentine and William Franklin Ballentine, Sr.; and her brother, William Franklin Ballentine, Jr.

She was born July 5, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee and spent most of her early life in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Her teenage years were spent in Maben, Mississippi, where she attended and graduated from Maben High School in 1960. She attended Mississippi University for Women and attended and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1964.

She married Robert William Peck in 1965. They moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she soon began her career in charge of fundraising for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in Birmingham. The couple moved to New York, where she continued her fundraising talents working for the New York Philharmonic. When the couple moved to San Francisco, she led fundraising efforts for the San Francisco Symphony.

She moved back to Birmingham, then back to Maben, Mississippi in 1990. She became active in working with children at Palmer Home and Pineville Children’s Home, both in Mississippi. She was trained and served as a foster parent. She became a foster grandparent to a family of four children and was significantly involved in their care during their childhood and teenage years.

She will be greatly missed by all of her friends in her local community and in her church, for her lovely smile, her kind, pleasant voice, and her ability to get things done for people who needed her help.
