Mrs. Betty Ann McKinney, age 85, of Albertville, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Adams-Brown Funeral Home in Albertville, AL, with Bro. Joseph Abbott officiating and Jonathan Burdine will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Marshall Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday, from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Betty McKinney was born in Albertville, Alabama, on February 5, 1939, to Loyd Dobbins and Jennie Rhoden Dobbins. In 1953, she met her sweetheart JB McKinney, and they were married on October 11, 1954. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage and raised three amazing children. The family moved to Albertville in 1965 and have lived there ever since. Over the years, they owned and operated several restaurants, including Jacks in the late 1950s, The Web in the 1960s, and managed the Harbor House in Guntersville, the King’s Inn Restaurant in Albertville, and worked at Shoney’s in Albertville before becoming the owners of the Brass Lantern in Boaz on July 29, 1981, from which they retired on February 7, 2007.
Mrs. McKinney is survived by her daughters: Charlotte (Rickey) Frasier and Penny (Kevin) Derrick, and daughter-in-law: Vickie McKinney. Grandchildren: Misty Kidd, Nicole (Nick) Landers, Shelley (Michael) Bearden, Adam McKinney, Jonathan (Sandy) Burdine, Shani (Lee) Hughes, Maegan (Jared) Gill, Kelli (Chris) Travis, Alan Derrick, and K. J. Derrick (Erica). Great-grandchildren: Jeremy (Morgan) Portwood, Makala (Joseph) Abbott, Ian Portwood, Kaden Landers, Kalvin Landers, Noah, Cameron, and Brooklyn Burdine, Jonah, Jax, and Jessa Bearden, Jackson, Parker, and Zackary Hughes, Adrianna and Praisley Gill, Matthew and Reese Travis, and Lainey Derrick. Great-great-grandchildren: Ella Kate, Jude, and Ivy Grace Abbott, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband: JB David McKinney, son: Dennis Dewayne McKinney, parents: Loyd and Jennie Rhoden Dobbins, and her brothers and sisters.
The pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jonathan, K. J., Adam, and Alan, and great-grandsons: Jeremy, Ian, Kaden, and Kalvin. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons: Jackson, Noah, Cameron, Parker, Jonah, Jax, Zackary, Matthew, and great-great-grandson Jude.
