Bettie Jo Campbell Straily – Obituary

bettyBettie Jo Campbell Straily, 80, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at her son’s home in the Furr’s Community. She was born December 27, 1935 in Gunnison to William Earl and Christine Nichols Campbell. Bettie attended school in Tupelo and worked as a seamstress for Lanier Manufacturing for several years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, and loved the time she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 PM Sunday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wesley Stephens and Rev. Greg Herndon officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Bettie leaves behind her children, Elizabeth Kelley Little of Tupelo; Michael Todd Straily (Leigh Anne) of Pontotoc; and Anthony Alred (Jessica) of Nettleton; her grandchildren, Jennifer Little Clifton, Steven Straily (Bonnie), Caleb Straily, Lana Alred and Campbell Alred; her great-grandchildren, Kaiden Dupree and Brady Clifton; her sisters, Louise Campbell Legate of Houston, TX, Margaret Campbell Stanford of Tupelo and Gloria Campbell Marlin (Ralph) of Mantachie; a brother, David Campbell (Bette Joyce); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Earl Campbell, Jr.; brothers-in-law, James Stanford and Carl Legate; and her husband, Leonard Straily

Pallbearers will be Will Stafford, Dennis Stafford, Phillip Marlin, Trae Bailey, Caleb Straily, and Steven Straily.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Saturday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
