Mrs. Bess Marshall Sisk Mrs. Bess Marshall Sisk, age 88 of Scottsboro, Alabama passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Billy Ray Sisk; her parents, Sarah Lucile and Thomas N. Marshall; her brothers, Tom and Sam; and her sister, Carolyn Cox.

She is survived by her three sons, William Mark, Phillip Hunt (Kim), and David Marshall (Natasha), her twin grandchildren, Colin and Kyra, and several nieces and nephews.

Bess grew up in Southside, AL. After graduating from Jacksonville State University in 1957, she came to Jackson County as the 4-H demonstration agent. On October 12, 1958 she married Billy Ray Sisk and they remained married until his death in 2002.

After taking time off to start her family, Bess embarked on a career in teaching. She taught Home Economics and created a course in Adult Roles at Section High School. She also continued her education earning a master’s degree in 1970 and a “double a” in 1983.

After retirement, Bess was involved with AAUW (American Association of University Women), United Methodist Women (UMW), Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher’s sorority, Randall’s Chapel, and the Jackson county extension service master gardeners program.

Her passion and love will live on in her family, her students (who would often say hello, when she was out in public) and those who crossed her path.

The visitation will be at the Scottsboro Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11th, 2024, and the celebration of her life will be at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
