Bernard Andrew Lehmann A funeral mass for Bernard “Bernie” Andrew Lehmann, 97, of Hanceville, Alabama will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 21st at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman. Visitation for the public will begin at 6:30 P.M. with the rosary following at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 20th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The burial will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 22nd at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.

Mr. Lehmann was born on January 1, 1926 in Chicago, IL to the late Leo and Elsie Lehmann. He passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023 at Falkville Nursing Home in Falkville, Alabama. He was a member of the AAF and served from November 1943 to November 1945. Within his time in the military, Mr. Lehmann was decorated with an air medal, three bronze stars and three oak leaf clusters. He also served in Central Europe in 1945, shortly before separating. Aside from his military career, Bernie was rich in his Catholic faith and carried a great love for Blessed Mother and the Holy Eucharist.

 

Survivors include his children, Keith (Stacy) Lehmann, Michael (Sandra) Lehmann, Br. Leo Mary, MFVA, Gregory (Mary) Lehmann and Rebecca (Erik) Reuter; grandchildren, Theresa, Veronica, Rachel, Paul, Alan, Kimberly, Vanessa, and Jackson.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lehmann was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Murr Lehmann; grandson, Isaac Lehmann; and brother, Ralph Lehmann.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Valley and Falkville Nursing Home for their love and care of Bernie during his illness.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 3222 County Road 548, Hanceville, Alabama 35077.
