Benton Carter Smith Sr, age 62 of Decherd, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born on November 3, 1961, to the late John Wayne “Buddy” and Neva June (Garner) Smith. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a machinist at Universal Technologies. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing guitar. But most of all, Benton loved the time spent with his beloved family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was the type of man that would give his shirt off his back for anyone. He was full of wisdom and love for everyone and will be forever cherished. Benton is survived by his loving children, Ashley Majors of Winchester, Benton Carter “BJ” Smith Jr of Decherd, and Emily (Chace) Coffman of Estill Springs; brother, Paul Douglas Smith of Decherd; aunt, Patty Harrison of Decherd; and grandchildren, Alan Speakman, Ashlynn Majors, Aaliyah Morris, Jax Coffman, and Emberlee Coffman. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
