MONTGOMERY— A $30,000 grant awarded by Gov. Robert Bentley is helping workers at Generics Bidco in Huntsville learn new skills.
The company is training 125 front-line and middle-management employees in basic leadership, management and workplace safety skills with the aim of increasing productivity and decreasing turnover. Generics Bidco is contributing $127,025 toward the training costs.
“By learning new skills, employees are better equipped to succeed in the workplace and help their employers be more competitive in today’s economy,” Bentley said.
Generics Bidco, a manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals, employs 1,300 full-time workers at its Huntsville location. Calhoun Community College is conducting the training at its Tanner campus.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Labor. ADECA manages a wide array of programs that support law enforcement and traffic safety, workforce development, energy conservation, water resource management, economic development and recreation.
Bentley notified Cynthia Krammer-Daggett of Generics Bidco that the grant had been approved.
