Benny James Evans, age 72 of Sheffield, died Monday, July 14, 2014. Visitation will be Wednesday, 11-1 p.m. at Westside Church of Christ. His funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with Gerald Sockwell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Benny was a member of Westside Church of Christ formerly of Valdosta Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Evans and Erma Gist and his brother-in-law, Jimmy Frazier.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Carol, sons; Ricky Evans, Allen Evans (Lorey); daughter, Nanette Evans Lash; daughter-in-law, Alicia Evans; sister, Willette Evans Frazier; grandchildren, Amber Evans Jackson, Lindsey Lash, Austin, Evans, Brittany Brown; great grandchildren, Thomas Brown, Caleb Brown, Nathan Rhodes, Caymen Jackson and mother-in-law, Margaret Simmons.
Family friends will serve as pallbearers.
