Bennie Houston Clemons – Obituary

Funeral for Bennie Houston Clemons, 84, of Moulton will be Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Harris officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Clemons, who died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his residence, was born October 14, 1928, in Hartselle to Charles Luther Clemons and Janie Marie Slaten Clemons. He was a U.S. Armyveteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Wolverine Tube, Inc. after 24 years. He attended Mount View Baptist Church. His hobbies included mowing the lawn, fishing, gardening and helping cook in the home kitchen. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John William Clemons; and four sisters, Evelyn Harville, Annie Joe Long, Mildred Terry and Katie Clemons.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Hastings Clemons; two sons, Benjamin “Benji” Clemons of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Richard E. “Ricky” Ricks of Danville; one daughter, Philana Clemons (Serenity Powers) of Priceville; one sister, Lucille Lackey; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Doug Terry, Roger Engle, John Hitt, Butch Wiley, Stanley Newman and Steve Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Johnson, Mitch Rollins and Harce Hill.

Memorials may be made to Parkway Funeral Home or Clemons’ residence.
