Benjamin Forrest Law, 85, passed away on November 17, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 1 – 3 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia; the funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, in Scottsboro, AL, on Monday at 11 a.m. Son-in-law, Steve Condra will be officiating.
Ben was born in Scottsboro, AL on November 30, 1930 to Ermie and Myrtle Lemmons Law. After a happy childhood he came to study at Florence State Teacher’s College. He joined the Army in 1951 and went to serve his country in Korea with the 151st Engineer Combat Battalion, Company B. The company formed a special bond during this time, which was very important to Ben for the rest of his life. After he returned and graduated from college, he married Susie Smith and they started their family. They moved to Flint, Michigan where he served as a Methods Analyst for GM, then back to Alabama where he worked as a Process Engineer at Ford Motor Company. In 1960 he became Vice-President of Ashco Automotive in Sheffield. In 1970 he started his own company, Delta Automotive, which eventually became an international company with branches throughout the United States. His gift for salesmanship and his love for people were key to his success as a businessman.
He was passionate about his business, his love for America, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his faith. He also loved travelling all over the world. He visited almost all the continents of the world and States. He particularly enjoyed cruising the seas. His family and friends were always entertained by the interesting souvenirs he brought back as gifts. The bag of surprises was always a fun time. He was a very generous man. After his retirement, he dedicated himself to spending time with his family. He was very devoted to supporting his children and grandchildren at their various endeavors. He was preceded in death by parents, Myrtle Lemmons and Ernie Law; brother, John Franklin Law.
Mr. Law leaves behind to cherish in his memory wife, Susie Law; son, Sam Law (Tina); daughters, Cathy Condra (Steve), Laura Whitten (Randy) and Joy Pschierl (Walter); sister, Inez Starnes; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, as-well-as Randy Whitten (son-in-law). Honorary pallbearers will be lifelong friend, Ronnie Henson and Joe Starnes, friend and brother-in-law.
The family offers thanks to his loving caregivers, Margaret, Brenda, Denise, Kay, Leigh and Helen.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Mars Hill Bible School.
